Episode 3 - Auditions #3. Preliminary auditions continue in Season 10's third episode. American Idol moved to New Orleans for the second episode of its tenth season, and the shift in location cured many of the problems that beset the season premiere. The fact that it was a regular one-hour episode instead of a two-hour extravaganza also made a difference, as the focus was entirely on the auditions as opposed to all the grandiose, overdramatic elements that made the premiere feel as though it was trying too hard. The judges have gotten somewhat tougher since New Hat, but it's telling of which Randy Jackson, the most seasoned with the group, is the first to convey "no" when confronted that has a really bad performance. Steven Tyler displays his disgust through his / her facial expressions, but still tries to get tactful when he in fact tells the potential contestants they're not going to move ahead.
